Homestead Arcana (2023, Serenity Forge & Skybound Games)

Game summary: Become an adventurous spell-wielding Witch and venture into the frontier corrupted with Miasma. Discover the secret behind its mysterious appearance, build your homestead, and power up your spells with nature to heal the land.

For this project, I was a hands-on, technical Art Director. I was responsible for creating a visual style that unified high-fidelity lighting, fog, and effects with stylized environments and characters, all using the latest Unity HDRP techniques while remaining performance-friendly.

To achieve these goals, I led a team of 10, comprised of 2D and 3D artists, animators, tech artists, and VFX artists. A large part of my role was in coaching team members to help them take on independent R&D, more advanced pipelines, and increased ownership in their work. As a hands-on AD, I also developed and integrated a few key visual effects, such as the miasma clouds and a pipeline to overhaul all of the game’s environments.

I joined the project mid-way through production. My role was focused on executing on the project’s original vision by overhauling multiple game areas, asset pipelines, and finalizing visuals across the game, while also improving art pipelines and performance.
